Dustin Kook started his martial art training in 1989 at a local Tae Kwon Do school that unfortunately closed before he could earn his Black Belt. Still having an interest in martial arts he bounced around trying different styles until at the age of 15 when he began training in a mix of Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Kickboxing, & Krav Maga. Under the tutelage of some great instructors he joined the assistant instructor program helping teach classes. In 2003 he earned his First degree Black Belt and graduated from the Instructor program to become a full Instructor and taught full time. Mr. Kook was tasked with running multiple self defense programs for all ages including classes at Children’s World Learning Centers, Kids Choice, Montessori schools and the Lifetime Fitness Health Clubs. Master Kook also was placed in charge of a leadership program helping our youth of today become the leaders and instructors of tomorrow.
Mr. Kook has had a very successful sport karate career and has been an avid sport karate competitor in the Chicagoland area and Minnesota over the last 20 years. Now, 5th Degree Black Belt and Master Instructor, Mr. Kook continues to train and compete teaching his students the valuable lessons of competition and his years of training have taught him. Dustin is also a certified Level 3, “Full Instructor” in Krav Maga through the Krav Maga Association. In September of 2022 Dustin started teaching here at IMAA and has become a great addition to our family teaching a mix of Karate, Kickboxing, and Krav Maga.
